About Google Algorithm-

Google Algorithms are the multiplex system used to recover data from its Search Engine Index and deliver immediately the best result of any query of users.

Google makes many small changes in its Search engine per year to make it a good search engine which is known as Google Algorithm Results.

10 Important Algorithm Upgrades that Google Rolls Out-

1. Panda-

It is the leading update of google search results ranking . It was launched on 24 February 2011. Purpose of this update was that  sites having low quality should have low ranking and high quality sites will be on the Top of search engine results. 

Result- Thin Quality , Low content and duplicate.

2. Penguin- 

It is the second big change of Google Algorithm . It was released on 24 April 2012. The purpose of this change was to decrease the ranking of the sites which uses the “black- hat SEO” and disobeys Google’s Webmaster Guidelines.

RESULTS- Links with over optimized anchor text, irrelevant links.

3. Hummingbird-

It is an important algorithm change in Google search announced on 26 september 2013. It is a codename launched on 22 August 2013. Its main focus was on natural language search queries, individual keyword meaning and considering context. It also searches the content on the web pages having improved ability to direct users on the relevant page.

RESULTS- Low Quality Content and Keyword Filling.

4. Pigeon-

This change of Google Algorithm was updated on 24 July 2014 . The purpose of this update was enhancing the ranking of local lists on search engine pages. Firstly it was released in US English after that was released in other locations and languages like in Canada, Uk and Australia it was launched on 22 December 2014 . This gives the best result to the user by listing and locations like in the local business directory.

5. Mobile –

It is also called Mobilegeddon Algorithm update. It was launched on 21 April 2015. The Purpose of this update was to give precedence to those website displays on smartphones. This change does not affect the searches made by laptop or desktop.

Results- poor mobile usability; Lack of a mobile version of the page

6. RankBrain-

This update was based on machine learning and was published by Google on 26 October 2015. The Aim of this result was to help the search engine to enhance the search result and give users relevant results of their searching. It was the third most important update of the algorithm.

Result- shallow content,Lack of query with unique relevance features and Poor UX 

7. Possum – 

It was also a major update to Google’s local search launched on 1 September 2016. It was based on Business listing which enhanced the ranking of Google local pack listing. After launching this update listing gets filtered. If some business listing has the same address and same location having different business then it will show only one of them.

Result- Tough competition in targeted location

8. Fred-

This update was published on 8 March 2017. It was the mysterious series of Google Algorithms. The main purpose of this update is to target the black hat technique bind hostile monetization for low value content, overload on ads and little added user benefits.

Results- Thin, affiliate-heavy content

9. Broad core –

This algorithm is a very important update of Google Search and published on 24 September 2019 . The Aim of this update is to make the result of search engine better and appropriate to the search queries of users. It affects the website having low quality content.

Results- Lack of content and content quality

10. BERT Update (Bidirectional Encoder Representations from Transformers)

It was published across 70 languages on 9 December 2019. Aim of this BERT Update was to improve the understanding of language especially for natural language and conversational queries.
